Bibby Sowray is a London-based freelance fashion writer, editor and consultant with extensive experience across both print and digital publications.
She studied BA (Hons) Fashion Communication at Central Saint Martins before beginning her career at Vogue.co.uk, where she learnt the ins and outs of working at a high-profile digital publication. Whilst there she managed the Vogue Blogs section, as well as maintaining the ground-breaking Today I’m Wearing… feature from its launch. She also honed her skills as a writer, regularly contributing news stories and in-depth designer biographies to the site.
In 2012 she left Vogue for The Telegraph, where she was appointed Digital Fashion Writer.
While covering breaking fashion news and features for the newspaper’s digital platform she became adept at writing with speed and accuracy, while gaining in-depth knowledge of SEO, analytics, CMS systems, social media and content strategy. She was later made Fashion News & Features Editor across all of The Telegraph’s platforms, contributing a monthly column to the Telegraph Magazine about wardrobe classics, and also writing occasionally for the daily newspaper and Stella magazine. She also gained extensive experience in interviewing high-profile fashion figures and celebrities.
In 2016 she left The Telegraph for ELLE, where she was appointed into the newly-created position of Digital News & Features Editor, charged with reimagining the ELLE UK digital offering. Here she played a vital part in creating a new content strategy that would put quality fashion content front and centre. She also became a regular contributor to the magazine, writing long-read fashion features, trend pieces and designer profiles.
A respected voice in fashion journalism and opinion, she is now freelance and available for commissions and consultancy projects at bibbysowray@gmail.com.
